Release & Pray Part 2In order to pick up my babies from the breakfast spot, I needed to get some gas. There was absolutely no way I could make it to them without running out; plus, playing the ‘gas game’ in California would not be a good idea!! As I pulled up to the first station, I noticed that all the lights were out. No worries, right? WRONG! No lights also meant no gas. Time to find the next location. The second gas station had lights on. Great, right? WRONG! Lights were on but the gas pumps were turned off. So, what did I do? I pressed my luck and took to the highway to get my babies. The entire time I was driving, I was praying that I wouldn’t run out of gas. I should have been praying that I wouldn’t get lost. Hahaha. Sadly, I got lost and added more time to my travel. Anything that could go wrong went wrong. I was certain that soon enough I would be stranded on the side of the road and my babies would be stranded at the breakfast spot. How do eco-spiritualist pray?To answer that question, let me first say what it looked like before eco-spirituality: The way I was taught to pray always started with “Dear Heavenly Father” and ended with “In the Name of Jesus.” Since my walk has changed so has my prayer approach. Now, I alternate my prayers between names like “Creator,” “Universe,” or “Ancestors.” On the morning of the 4th, I was praying hard! I mean REAL HARD!!! I used all three names, Creator, Universe, AND Ancestors, and I followed that with, “…please guide me and protect me. Please don’t let me run out of gas. Please keep me safe.” As I prayed, the gas light continued to blink and I continued to look for a gas station. When I looked down at my phone, I couldn’t believe what I saw. I saw my Mama’s name on the map. My Mama, Clara Simmons, earned her wings from a 26-year battle with cancer on March 31, 2016. On this day, I started developing a relationship with her as my ancestor. When I saw Mama’s name on the map, my anxiety lifted. I released my fear of running out of gas, and I knew that my prayer to the Ancestors was answered. It was answered by a very specific ancestor that wouldn’t let anything happen to her daughter or granddaughter. So, there it is! Yes, I still pray and I know that prayer works. If you choose to walk a path that is opposite your inherited religion, you have complete permission to modify and/or cancel practices that support who you are and who you are becoming. Ase.. PS There was an Intention Stone #7 but it wasn’t placed at a gas station. I handed it directly to a Sistah Queen at the day party in Oakland. We struck up a conversation about both of us being in our 40s and having kids that were in their 20s. She said, “us 40 somethings need to stick together.” I soooo loved her energy. I offered her the 7th stone.
